Russia earns 722 billion roubles from dividends this year

MOSCOW, Russia / Eurasian Newswire / – Russia has received 722 billion roubles in budget revenue from dividend payments since the start of 2026, according to the Ministry of Finance. The payments are based on companies’ financial results for 2025. Separate official data showed that the country’s total gas production rose 3.3% to 495.4 billion cubic metres in the first nine months of the year. The figures were reported on October 29.

The Finance Ministry said the financial, oil and gas and transport sectors were the main sources of the dividend revenue. Most of the money was transferred to the budget during the summer. The ministry expects dividend income to reach 807.6 billion roubles for 2026 as a whole. It forecasts a gradual increase to 985.6 billion roubles by 2029. The draft budget for 2026 included 397.5 billion roubles in dividends from Sberbank, Russia’s largest bank.

Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said on October 21 that dividends from companies with state participation would exceed 800 billion roubles this year, Izvestia reported. He said that was almost 100 billion roubles more than planned. The draft federal budget for 2027 to 2029 projects dividend revenue of 838.4 billion roubles in 2027 and 914 billion roubles in 2028, according to TASS. The same documents put the 2026 budget deficit at 3.2% of gross domestic product.

Natural gas output rises 3.6% in nine months

In the energy sector, data from the Federal State Statistics Service, known as Rosstat, showed that production of combustible natural gas rose 3.6% to 420 billion cubic metres from January to September. Output of associated petroleum gas, which is extracted alongside crude oil, fell slightly by 0.6% to 75.4 billion cubic metres. Total production reached 495.4 billion cubic metres. In the same period of 2025, Russia produced 479.6 billion cubic metres, a fall of 4% at the time.

Russia’s total gas production declined by 3.2% in 2025 to 663.3 billion cubic metres, according to TASS. Output has recovered steadily this year. Production rose 3.4% to 446.5 billion cubic metres in the first eight months, Rosstat data showed. Output of liquefied natural gas grew 13.7% to 23.1 million tonnes over the same period. Russia’s liquefied natural gas exports rose 8.6% in the first four months of 2026.

Ministry forecasts further gains in gas output

The Ministry of Economic Development forecasts total gas production of 688.4 billion cubic metres in 2026. It expects output to rise to 711.3 billion cubic metres in 2027 and 731.9 billion cubic metres in 2028. The International Energy Agency has forecast a 3% increase in Russian gas output this year, to 683 billion cubic metres. Both forecasts point to a return to growth after the decline recorded in 2025.

Oil and gas revenues to the federal budget are forecast at 7 trillion roubles in 2027, according to the draft budget. The 2026 deficit is projected at 7.335 trillion roubles. Deputy Finance Minister Alexei Moiseev said in December 2025 that state-linked companies would pay more than 1.1 trillion roubles in dividends to the budget that year. The ministry expects dividend revenue to increase gradually over the next three years.
